Taking Successful Measures

In today’s competitive business world, and with the increasing scrutiny given to benefits to be delivered by public/government expenditure, all organisations need to Continually Improve.

The term Continuous Improvement (CI) refers primarily to on-going, incremental changes. Of course, major re-structuring can also result from organisational learning that should occur during incremental change. However, the major focus of CI is on implementing adjustments in generally non-disruptive ways, but always seeking to make progress in performance, results and profitability.

BUT – how do you decide What, Where, When and How to make changes?

We work closely with you to objectively determine which of the following assessments would benefit your situation, goals, culture and profitability.

  • Business Metrics Analysis – looking at the financial performance, and other business-critical measurements that indicate what directions that change should take.
  • Products/Markets Analysis – taking a fresh look at what your organisation delivers, and considers where to extend, expand, diversify, decrease or re-channel your offerings.
  • SWOT plus Implications – this standard analysis of Strengths – Weaknesses – Opportunities – Threats is followed by development of the Implications arising from each SWOT item uncovered, which leads to suggested actions to be taken. The SWOT itself can cover the whole business, or focus on aspects of production, marketing/sales, personnel/HR, finance, etc.
  • Structure Audit – changing the structure or sub-structure of your organisation should never be approached lightly. If this is being considered, we can bring a fresh, objective perspective to the evaluation of options. We can also help define the core business drivers and motivations that are influencing the need for change, and re-evaluate their role and effects.
  • Communications Audit – recognised as a critical factor in any size organisation, how each person, team, section, department, and division communicates within itself and throughout the organisation has a key influence on efficiency, effectiveness and profitability. A Communications Audit often reveals “inconvenient” truths, and spotlights internal frictions and pressure points.
  • Staff Satisfaction Audits – often overlooked as a beneficial activity, merely asking staff how happy they are often raises morale temporarily. However, a truly effective assessment of staff morale, expectations, issues and hidden problems requires a carefully constructed professional approach which needs updating to maintain benefits to staff and to employer.
